The Art of Banksy, the world’s most famous graffiti artist, is coming to Minneapolis this summer in a new exhibition at the Lighthouse ArtSpace Minneapolis. “The Art of Banksy” will be presented at the same venue where the Immersive Van Gogh experience is currently running. The exhibition will feature more than 100 original works from Banksy, both well-known and unknown, dating from 1997 to 2008.
A highlight of the exhibit is the “Immersive Van Gogh Experience” which features 60,600 frames of video and 90 million pixels. The show allows you to become completely immersed in the artwork through state-of-the-art technology and theatrical storytelling. While critics have questioned whether or not Lighthouse ArtSpace is robbing museums of art, the center says the experience is unique and immersive.
The event is part of the “Art-A-Whirl” neighborhood studio crawl, which is a free event to bring community members together through art. This exhibition is sponsored by the Lighthouse ArtSpace, which is an official participant in Art-A-Whirl. The exhibit will feature more than 100 Banksy works and will include a number of pieces from the “girl with balloon” series.
The historic Germania Club building houses the first-ever immersive entertainment multi-plex at the Lighthouse ArtSpace. This multi-plex is dedicated to cultivating a creative community, by transforming venues into immersive art experiences.
The new attraction has been a hit in its hometown of Minneapolis. The immersive art gallery is designed by Meow Wolf and covers over 20,000 square feet. Visitors experience unique animated collectible art scenes that are designed to engage their senses. Guests may even interact with sports stars and celebrities in the immersive art scenes. The Immersive Entertainment Industry is estimated to be worth $4.5 billion by 2018, which does not even include the $45.2 billion theme park industry.
