French Regional Park

  • 7:17 pm

Few people know that French Regional Park in Plymouth was named after public servant Clifton E. French and not for any Parisian influence. The park is a favorite spot for biking, boating, hiking, fishing, swimming, and other outdoor activities.

Are you ready for your next excursion? Explore one of three easy hikes or bike rides in Clifton French Regional Park that are ideal for families. Do you want a more difficult walk? We’ve got you covered, with hikes ranging from 36 to 196 feet in elevation gain. Whatever you have planned for the day, you can find the ideal trail for your next visit to Clifton French Regional Park.

The Medicine and Skyline Loop is perfect for a standard hike. This 2.3-mile loop trail near Minneapolis is easy and generally takes 48 minutes to finish. Hikers, birders, and walkers love it here because of the beautiful sights and lack of people; however, you may want to come during less popular hours if complete tranquility is your goal. The best times to visit are March through October, but dogs are always welcome as long as they’re on a leash.

The French Beach Loop is also a great trail for a shorter hike! This loop trail is 1.1 miles long and located near Minneapolis, Minnesota. It’s classified as an easy route that takes about 21 minutes to finish, on average. The trail is popular for birding and cross-country skiing but you can still find some peace if you go during less crowded times of the day. Visitors can bring their dogs on this trail, too, as long as they stay on a leash.

The Clifton E. French Outer Loop is the longest trail for hikers.

Enjoy this 4.1-mile loop around Medicine Lake, Minnesota. It generally takes about 1 hour 22 minutes to complete. This is a popular trail for birding, cross-country skiing, and hiking, but you can also enjoy some peace and quiet at different times of the day. Dogs are permitted here too, but they must be on a leash.

Clifton E. French Regional Park is the perfect spot for a nature hike near The Cities, with diverse trails and scenery.  You can find everything from peaceful grassland hikes to the more challenging terrain, depending on where you explore in the park. And since it’s a regional park, there are also plenty of opportunities for picnicking and enjoying the lake views.
