Fish Lake Regional Park provides the opportunity to enjoy nature and get some exercise, all in a beautiful wooded area with a lake. Water enthusiasts will love swimming, boating, or ice fishing on Fish Lake. Additionally, there are picnic areas and a rental pavilion for your enjoyment. In autumn, the leaves of the trees turn colors that reflect beautifully onto the lake surface – making it an ideal time to visit for any outdoor activity lover. Fish Lake provides turf trails for those who want to go snowshoeing or hiking in the winter. For dog owners, there is a fully-fenced off-leash area where their dogs can exercise all year round. The Fish Lake beach is accessible for free, but it is unguarded, and it is open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Memorial Day through Labor Day. The pavilion nearby has restrooms and bicycles for rent.
As part of its Fishing in the Neighborhood initiative, the Minnesota DNR has designated Fish Lake as a Kids Pond. It is suitable for novices and kids to learn about fishing because it includes fish species such as Bluegill, Black Crappie, Largemouth Bass, Northern Pike, and Bullhead. The fishing pier is accessible along various walking paths. In all Three Rivers Parks, a fishing license is required for persons 16 years of age and older.
Wood ducks are managed by the Three Rivers Park District’s Wood Duck Management Program. At this and other district parks, volunteers maintain and monitor wood duck boxes. For the past 50 years, the volunteers have kept records on wood duck use of these boxes, which have been very successful. Spring and fall are regarded as the best seasons to see wood ducks, swans, and other waterfowl according to Three Rivers.
The Pavilion, which seats up to 75 people and is available for daily rental, is located on the beach. A fireplace, big kitchen, heat, air conditioning, projector, TV-DVD player, and two large grills are included in the rental. The beach and paths are within walking distance.
